Owner, Operator, Instructor, CrossFit Level 1 Certified

I was was initially introduced to CrossFit through Kelly Starrett who runs San Francisco CrossFit. At the time I was recovering from a series of very complicated knee procedures (3 surgeries in this case for a biological knee replacement), he was my physical therapists and said in one of my sessions “Hey once you get back on your feet I want to you try this out.” I mulled it over during my therapy session, then tried it and realized it was one of the best directions I've ever pursued.

Now I am a firm believer the physical skill sets CrossFit trains combined with its programming will get anyone into incredible shape (that includes YOU), have a lot of fun getting there, improve performance in other sports you enjoy and achieve milestones you never thought possible, and prevent surgeries so you can keep active and playing through aging. I would like to thank the coaches that helped me develop my foundation including KStar, Chris Lalanne at Lalanne Fitness, Dan and Sarah at CrossFit Sonoma County and Zeke at CrossFit Coastal in Wilmington, NC. Since then I have continued developing my foundation working with a number of incredible instructors visiting us including some incredible Oly lifting coaches. I feel I am a perpetual student to this incredible sport and will do my best to impart knowledge and motivate.

In my earlier days I played competitive basketball and volleyball, ran track with a PR in the mile at 4:10, taught Phys Ed, coached basketball, tennis and volleyball and worked sales for various Internet companies. I graduated from Virginia Tech and MBA from Thunderbird Business School.

I love CrossFit. It’s changed my life and hope it can change yours. I will do my best to work with you closely and attentively. But also be patient in your training. It's my philosophy to start slowly and learn the foundations of movements thoroughly. Even if the workouts will be scaled or those around you are doing more this is your fitness and your path. Focus on solid form and correct movement. Now lets begin your fitness journey together and have some fun getting in shape!

Unlike most coaches, I’ve definitely not been an athlete my entire life. But, like many, the impact CrossFit has had on my life is phenomenal. Learning about CrossFit through Jerome’s depth of knowledge and coaching support has been a truly significant factor in the betterment of my health, physical fitness and confidence. It’s impossible to pinpoint a single thing I love most about Kauai CrossFit. But here’s a short list of favorites:

1) Everyone is welcomed, encouraged, and respected regardless of athletic ability
2) The FUN we have working together every day
3) Witnessing personal records, physical changes, and the joy in the faces of everyone as they experience successes big and small
4) Barbells!

Born and raised on Kauai, I’m a mother to Ian, and a fiance to Tony. I am blessed with a fabulous family and incredible friends. Currently, I’m the Director of Kauai Operations for Hawaiiana Management Co., Ltd. and have been managing community associations for the past 14 years to present. I love to write, hike, hit the beach with my aussie shepherd Hana, laugh with friends, and learn about people.

My promise to you is that I will never pretend to know everything about anything, and I’ll remain open to your ideas and respect your needs and goals.

Born in San Francisco, CA, my family moved to the north shore of Kauai when I was only 1 years old. Growing up on the island I was always outdoors and truly appreciated the stunning landscape and "chllax" people. I started out an active child; dancing ballet and hip hop for 10+ years, lessons in swimming, horseback, life guarding, etc. But like most teenagers, I started to realize that all my lessons and actives were getting in the way of a social life. So I eventually quit all my extra curricular activities and became just a beach bum with the most physical activity being going for a light swim and the occasional hike.
One day on my way home from work, I saw a new sign on the highway for Kauai CrossFit. I had a friend who was big into CrossFit on the mainland and had heard a little about it from him. Initially I called Jerome to set up a time with the intention of bring my dad and helping him get into shape again. But I was in for a rude awakening. I quickly realized how out of shape I was when I did the Baseline WOD (500m row, 40 squats, 30 situps, 20 pushups, 10 pullups, all modified and assisted). It took me almost 10 min and I felt dizzy and nausea. But like most who have this experience, I was hooked.

I had been doing CrossFit for about a year and a half when a friend put the idea in my head to start teaching. I was hesitant at first since I hate public speaking and attention on me. But I sure am glad I got certified because now I can't get enough of teaching! My favorite part of teaching has got to be seeing the look on someone's face when they reach that goal, make a PR, or just finish a WOD. I know the feeling of starting at ground zero and making small gains to the big ones.

Favorite Lift: Cleans

Favorite Body Weight Move: Burpees (I know, I know...)

Favorite WOD: Anything with Double Unders and the above moves!

I constantly love learning about people, CrossFit, health and fitness. I love my family at Kauai CrossFit and look forward to the amazing years with inspiring athletes to come!
